A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life
Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website My name is Abiola Abimbola and I am a counsellor providing both short- and long-term therapy to adult individuals in Swindon and online.
Life can feel overwhelming, and sometimes, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what’s wrong. You might feel anxious, stuck, or emotionally drained. Maybe you’re carrying the weight of past experiences, struggling with self-doubt, or just feeling “off” without knowing why.
At Helm of Hope Counselling Service, I offer a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space where you can talk openly, explore your emotions and issues and start to find clarity. Whether you’re looking for support with a specific challenge or simply need someone to listen, I’m here to help.
I am a fully qualified and experienced Person Centred counsellor and am based in Swindon but distance is not a barrier as I also offer face to face as well as Online Counselling. I currently work with helping adults (18+) work through life’s difficulties at your own pace.
Hello and welcome to Helm of Hope. My name is Abiola, I am an experienced, fully qualified and Person Centred Counsellor and am BACP-Registered. At Helm of Hope, we believe that everyone is the master of their own journey. We see life as a journey and however, you have journeyed or whatever your experiences have been on this journey, I would aim to support you as you navigate your way in overcoming or coping with difficult periods in your life, or perhaps if you just want to reflect or review on what direction/ path you want to take going forward, I will offer a safe, warm, non-judgemental space to explore your feelings, thoughts and experiences.
My journey into counselling was shaped by my various experiences all of which have given me a deep understanding amongst other experiences of how people navigate change, identity, and emotional struggles. Our work together will be geared towards empowering you to discover your inner strength and resources which will eventually link you to your journey on Personal Growth or wellbeing
I also work creatively to help you express your emotions in ways that feels natural, using creative tools to facilitate and enhance our work together. My approach is fully client-led, meaning you decide what we focus on and how we move forward together.
I offer counselling in Swindon for in-person clients as well as online sessions for those further afield.
Counselling provides a confidential space where you can speak openly about your worries, fears, and challenges without fear of judgement. It isn’t about being told what to do but about gaining a deeper understanding of your thoughts, emotions and experiences, allowing you to make the right choices for yourself.
At Helm of Hope Counselling Service, I take a Person-Centred approach, meaning you set the pace, and there is no pressure or expectation. Every session is tailored to your needs, giving you the freedom to explore what feels most important to you. Most importantly, you will be truly heard – your feelings and experiences are validated, and this space is yours to use in whatever way is most helpful within the counselling setting.
Counselling can help you develop a stronger sense of self, build confidence, and create healthier relationships with those around you. Whether you’re looking for short-term support or a longer journey of self-discovery, I will be there to walk alongside you towards positive change.
Everyone’s experience is unique, but some of the common challenges I help clients with include but not limited to:
Anxiety & Stress – Feeling on edge, overwhelmed, or unable to switch off.
Low Self-Confidence – Struggling with self-doubt or negative self-talk.
Burnout & Work Pressure – Feeling exhausted, unmotivated, or emotionally drained.
Depression & Low Mood – Persistent sadness, lack of motivation, or numbness.
Relationship Challenges – Difficulties with communication, boundaries, or connection.
Past Trauma – Unresolved experiences impacting your daily life.
You don’t need to have a clear “problem” to seek counselling sometimes, the only sign you need support is feeling like something isn’t quite right.
